Dump trucks
A Global Leader in Dump Trucks
Rust is a persistent problem. For dump truck manufacturers, building rust protection in before vehicles leave the factory is a real competitive advantage. Getting rained on now and then is part of the job, but you may not know that one situation can be far more damaging than rain: sea transport. Today, let's talk about why rust prevention matters so much for dump trucks in rainy weather and during sea transport—and how to protect them.
Rust Prevention in the Rain: Good Habits Start Before the Rain
First, let's talk about everyday care. Dump trucks deal with mud, sand, and ore every day. In rain or snow, the chassis and dump body are the most vulnerable.
The chassis is especially vulnerable. When driving in the rain, the tires fling up muddy water mixed with sand and stones, subjecting the chassis to a kind of “abrasive attack.” If it isn't cleaned promptly after the rain, moisture trapped in the mud will eventually cause rust. So rinse the chassis with clean water as soon as possible after driving in the rain.
Don't overlook the details of the dump body, either. Material left on its inner walls can cause corrosion over time. Scrape out any residue when unloading to reduce the risk of corrosion.
Rust Prevention During Sea Transport: A Real “Tough Battle”
If rust prevention in the rain is routine maintenance, rust prevention during sea transport is a real “tough battle.” Dump trucks exported overseas can spend dozens of days at sea. The high temperatures, humidity, and salt spray are devastating to metal. In the marine atmosphere,Salt ionsThe high content readily settles on vehicle surfaces. Chlorides are highly hygroscopic and form a strong electrolyte film on metal surfaces, accelerating electrochemical corrosion. Humidity inside the hold is high, and temperatures in some areas can reach 50°C, encouraging mold growth that can damage both the paintwork and electronic components.
So how do export vehicles make it through? Let’s take a look at what we do.
First step: Wax the entire vehicle to “dress” it in a protective coating
This is the most basic yet most important step in preventing rust during ocean shipping. Before loading many professionally manufactured export vehicles onto ships, the entire vehicle is sprayed with a layer of protective wax to form a dense protective film that effectively blocks the erosion caused by seawater and salt spray. We apply full-frame wax-spraying and sealing technology, focusing on protecting the chassis and frame. The exterior surface of the dump truck body is treated with a powder-coating process, which also effectively withstands salt spray and acid-alkali corrosion during ocean shipping.
Second Step: Prevent Rust Through Structural Design
Coating and spraying alone are not enough; structural design also requires careful consideration. Waterproofing must be properly implemented: all vehicle lights, wiring harness connectors, and other components are made waterproof so they can operate normally in rain, snow, and even the high-humidity conditions of ocean shipping. The welding process is also crucial. We useFull-penetration welding, dedicated welding wire that not only enhances frame strength, but more importantly improves sealing and rust resistance, preventing water from seeping in through the welds.
Third Step: Do Not Be Careless When Securing the Packaging
When loading vehicles onto a ship, waxing alone isn't enough. Use high-strength steel cables and purpose-made wooden blocks to secure them at multiple points, preventing them from sliding or colliding during transit, and provide moisture protection.
After all that, it comes down to one thing: for dump trucks, rust prevention in the rain takes regular care, while protection during sea transport depends on the process. We need to make sure our rust-prevention processes for export vehicles are thorough and effective. After all, a truck that stays rust-free and intact can work efficiently and last longer.
